RESERVE TIME IN THE MAKERSPACE

What is a MakerSpace? It is a place to make things. Simple enough. The Hillsdale Library sets aside its meeting room on a semi-regular basis for the purpose of making things. There is also a permanent MakerSpace that can be reserved for special personal projects.

We have a variety of tools, connecting elements, and materials available. Sometimes staff or volunteers will lead guided crafts or projects with instructions. At other times we permit “open make” when participants engage their own creative imagination and skills.

Funding for the MakerSpace is provided by the Friends of the Hillsdale Library and a contract award from the New Jersey State Library and LibraryLinkNJ, the NJ State Library Cooperative. Donations are always welcome!

Available Tools – scissors, razor blades, needle nose pliers, wire cutters, rulers, cutting mats, screw drivers, glue guns, paint brushes, Rainbow Looms.

Available Connectors – Elmer’s glue, glue sticks, duct tape, masking tape, scotch tape, paper clips, magnets, wire, soldering iron, string, fishing line, yarn, thread.

Available Materials – paper, cardboard, origami paper, corks, ping pong balls, golf balls, wood craft sticks, springs, fabrics, metal bottle caps, plastic bottle caps, polymer clay, and lots of other random stuff.
